Courses for improvers/returners will start the week beginning March 18th. I shall be contacting returners soon and details will be also posted on here.

Classes for returners/improvers will start the week beginning September 17th. It is a ten week course  and each class  will run  for two and a half hours. Classes are planned to run on Monday afternoons and Tuesday and Thursday morning depending upon demand.These classes are mixed ability but are not suitable for absolute beginners. There will be a choice of media. I shall be demonstrating in watercolour and oils for the most part. Subject matter will include painting buildings autumn trees and we shall return to looking and drawing inspiration from artists who live or have lived  and worked  in Wales.
We shall have an additional day painting Christmas cards and enjoying a good lunch! Fee just to cover hall rental for the day.

I have planned a  fund raising day in day in November with local members of The British Heart Foundation. We shall be raising money by having an art day in the hall where our painters/students can exhibit and sell their paintings and cards. I shall put a painting of mine as a raffle prize. Refreshments will be provided by the BHF.

I hope to run an additional course  for absolute beginners,  however this will depend on at least ten people enrolling. This course will be on a Wednesday or Friday morning. If you are interested please contact me if possible ahead of time for further information .

It is likely that the rental for the hall will be increased in September and I shall have to pass this on I am afraid . If this does happen the fee for the ten week course will increase to £75 from £70.

BEGINNERS- Painting in watercolour

A ten week course for absolute beginners and those with a little experience to run after Easter. The subject matter will be mainly landscape and we shall start by learning basic watercolour techniques which will be used in simple landscape paintings. This will be an EVENING COURSE  7.00pm – 9.00pm at

St Michael’s Church Hall, Golden Grove, Nr Llandeilo

Starting week beginning April 16th on Wednesdays.

Cost £70 to include some materials. Advice will be given if you wish to purchase additional items.

IMPROVERS – Painting and drawing the natural world

 A six week course ( two and a half hours per week) suitable for those who have been on a previous course with me or with another tutor. We shall be drawing in pencil and charcoal and painting in media of your choice to include watercolour and oils. Hopefully those that wish to will be able to work part of each session outdoors in Golden Grove Country Park, weather permitting. Cost £40

Classes restart the week beginning September 12th. Classes for improvers ( those with some experience ) will run as follows:

Tuesdays 10.30- 1.00 (places available)
Thursdays 10.30 – 1.00 (full)

TOPIC FOR SEPTEMBER
We are going to return to the topic of Painting/Framing Wales. The aim is to introduce us to or build on our knowledge of prominant contemporary artists who live or have lived and worked in Wales. We shall explore and discuss their work and the  techniques used in their paintings. We shall draw on their subject matter for inspiration and methods of working. Media will be down to personal choice but will include oils and watercolour.
Each of us is going to research an artist. I think a mimimum of two sides A4 including some images will be fine. If you are really interested and want to do more than that perhaps a few of you might like to give a short ( ten minutes ) talk ? Work will go into a ring binder and used as a class resource.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
I am planning on talking to Jones International and arranging a trip to Cardiff Galleries to include The National Museum of Wales, The Martin Tinney Gallery, The Albany Gallery and The Koywood Gallery. There is a ‘regular’ service on Saturdays and some Thursdays that we could take advantage of ( £10) or if we have enough people we could hire a coach on a day we would prefer.

David Cowdry has kindly agreed to do another oil painting domonstration, possibly a snow scene. We thoroughly enjoyed the last one and learned so much.

BEGINNERS ART CLASS

I would also like to start a  new class for absolute beginners- Drawing and painting in watercolour to run Wednesdays 10.00 – 1.00. And to include the activities above.
Cost for a ten week term is £70 to include some materials for the beginners course.
